In Screed Cable
$151.00 – $940.00
Installs easily above slabs, embedded in screed for heating most floor types.
Features & Benefits
Easy to install and requires no maintenance
Robust heating cable, with premium high temperature insulating materials
The FHK in-screed heating cable provides an efficient solution for warming your home, ideal for heating a variety of floor finishes, including tiles, stone, ceramic, carpet, vinyl, engineered timber, and more.
Suitable for new builds and renovations.
The underfloor heating loose cable systems are specifically designed for complex floor areas where a mat is not suitable. With a rating of 17W per linear meter, our systems provide customisable comfort as the cable spacing is increased/decreased from the target 100mm spacing.
To enhance performance and lower running costs, we recommend using insulated tile backer boards beneath the mat heater.
Product Details
The In Screed Cable kit includes:
- In Screed cable heater
- Cable alarm monitor with batteries (for testing & monitoring for breaks)
- Installation guide
- Note: Thermostats are sold separately
Our in-screed heating cable is a series-type, twin conductor heating cable with a 2.5m cold lead on one side for power connection.
The heating conductor is enclosed in an initial high temperature insulation layer, which is itself wrapped in a protective metal shielding, before being encased in a final Polyolefin outer sheath. The final diameter of the heating cable is 5mm.
The cold lead junctions are prefabricated and rigorously tested in a controlled factory environment to ensure reliability.

FAQ
How thick should the screed layer be for electric in-screed heating?
The screed layer for electric in-screed heating should typically be around 25-40mm thick. This thickness ensures that the cables are properly covered and that the heat is distributed evenly across the floor. Note where screed layers exceed 40mm, an insulated tile backer board should be used to restrict heat losses into the floor below.
Do I need to insulate beneath the screed for better performance?
Yes, it is highly recommended to install insulation beneath the screed layer to maximise the efficiency of the in-screed heating system. Insulation helps to direct the heat upwards into the room rather than allowing it to dissipate downward, making the system more energy-efficient and cost-effective.
How long does it take for in-screed underfloor heating to warm up?
Electric in-screed heating systems typically take a little longer to warm up compared to direct under tile heating systems, as the screed layer must absorb and gradually release the heat. However, once the screed is heated, it retains warmth for an extended period, providing consistent comfort throughout the day.
Is electric in-screed underfloor heating suitable for wet areas like bathrooms?
Yes, electric in-screed heating can be installed in wet areas like bathrooms, provided the system is correctly installed according to guidelines. It helps prevent moisture buildup, providing a comfortable and warm environment, especially during cold weather.
How do I control the temperature of my in-screed heating system?
Temperature control is typically managed through a programmable thermostat, which allows you to set your desired temperature and schedule heating cycles. Some systems also offer smart controls, allowing you to adjust settings remotely via an app for added convenience and efficiency.
