Features & Benefits

Easy to install mat design to fit any room shape

The ultra-thin 2.2mm heating cables allow for tiles to be installed directly over the mat

Durable and tough heating cable, insulated with premium Fluropolymer materials

The FHK under tile heating mats offer an efficient, energy-saving solution for warming your home, perfect for installation under tiles, stone, ceramic, or similar surfaces. Featuring a slim, low-profile design, the mats integrate seamlessly beneath your new flooring, ensuring minimal impact on floor heights.

These mats are designed for easy installation on concrete floors or insulated tile backer boards. The mat consists of three key components: evenly spaced 2.2mm heating cables for optimal heat distribution, a durable mesh with adhesive tape strips for quick and secure installation, and factory-fitted cold tail leads for connecting the heating mat to the thermostat.

Perfect for both residential and commercial spaces, the FHK electric under tile heating mat creates a cosy atmosphere in any room—whether it’s a bedroom, office, bathroom, or beyond. The system operates quietly and is controlled via a thermostat, allowing you to adjust the temperature for your ideal comfort.

The under tile heating mats come in two heat outputs (mat wattage): 150W/m² for living areas and 200W/m² for bathrooms. Designed for easy installation, they can be rolled out directly onto the floor right from the box.

Product Details

The Under Tile Mat kit includes:

  • Under tile mat heater
  • Cable alarm monitor with batteries (for testing & monitoring for breaks)
  • Installation guide
  • Note: Thermostats are sold separately

The FHK under tile heating mats are made using high-quality cables securely attached to a 500mm wide mesh, ensuring optimal heat output by maintaining the correct cable spacing. This design also makes installation simple, as the mat is easily rolled out to cover the required heating area.

The heating cable is a series-type, single conductor heating cable with a 2.5m cold lead on both sides for power connection.

The heating conductor is enclosed in an initial Fluoropolymer insulation layer, which is itself wrapped in a protective metal shielding, before being encased in a final plastic outer sheath. The final diameter of the heating cable is 2.2mm.

The cold lead junctions are prefabricated and rigorously tested in a controlled factory environment to ensure reliability.

FAQ

How does under tile heating work?
Under tile heating works by using electric cables beneath the tiles. These cables generate heat when electricity flows through them. The heat is then transferred to the tiles, which radiate warmth into the room, ensuring a comfortable environment.

Is under tile heating energy-efficient?
Yes! Under tile heating is highly energy-efficient because it uses radiant heat, which warms the room directly without the need for air circulation. This allows for better heat retention and reduced energy consumption compared to traditional heating methods, such as radiators or forced air systems.

Can under tile heating be installed in any room?
Under tile heating can be installed in most rooms, including bathrooms, kitchens, living areas, and even outdoor spaces (with suitable outdoor-rated systems). It is particularly popular in areas with cold floors, like bathrooms or kitchens, where it adds comfort and luxury.

Is under tile heating safe?
Yes, under tile heating is safe when installed correctly and connected to a RCD protected circuit by a licensed electrician. Modern systems are designed with built-in safety features such as thermostats, circuit breakers, and temperature sensors to prevent overheating and ensure the system operates safely.

Can under tile heating be used with any type of flooring?
Under tile heating is most commonly used with ceramic, porcelain, and stone tiles, as they conduct heat effectively. It can also be used with some types of engineered wood, laminate, and vinyl flooring, but it’s important to consult with the manufacturer to ensure compatibility.
